I was painting today and had to mix a color or two. Typically I keep a little journal of my recipes, which contains a little swatch of the color, with a hand written note on colors used in mix ratio. This has worked well, but as you all well know, paper/cardstock and like products can be ruined by time, accidents, or just plain lost. I honestly didn't think twice about it, but later on today I watched Dexter and it suddenly hit me.
Why not make a swatch kit that contain "slides" that you can effectively make swatches out of that you can paint and write on to keep track of your recipes, and keep them in a box? The box would protect the slides from accidents, and when you're done you can keep the recipe for future use, or just clean it off and reuse it for your next paint project. It would be a very toned down version of this:
